Across The Lake Swim Organizers Mark Fromberg and Peter Rudd

For the last 12 years, Mark Fromberg and Peter Rudd have been successfully running the annual Across The Lake Swim (ATLS) in Kelowna, BC, Canada's largest and longest running open water swim.  In that time, the event has grown from about 250 participants per year, to well over 1000 registrants in each of the last several years, attracting swimmers from all over the world.  And since 2015, the Interior Savings ATLS has been ranked in the top 20 on the World's Top 100 Open Water Swims by Openwaterpedia (at #17 in 2016).

We believe that one of the event's great strengths has been its inclusivity--encouraging families, swimmers of all ages (as young a 6 and as old as 86) and abilities (both elite athletes and first-time bucket-listers) to participate.  The primary goal of the ATLS has been to give value and enjoyment to every entrant, while encouraging the development of open water swimming abilities for all participants in a safe environment.  For several years, the proceeds from the event have funded swimming lessons for every grade III and IV child in our region, a further commitment to our community's swimming spirit.

These are all principles we use in developing an urban swimrun event here. Whether new to endurance multisport, or a seasoned veteran, we have a race for you--as an "urban" swimrun, it is the first one of its kind in North America.  And we have grand aspirations to grow this exciting new sport right here in the Okanagan Valley--with longer and more challenging events, so stay tuned.
